Description
Engravings of three Maryland Signers of the Declaration of Independence by James Barton Longacre (1794-1869) (Artist) of Pennsylvania. Prints include: Samuel Chase drawn by Longacre from painting by John Wesley Jarvis; William Paca after a drawing by Longacre from John Singleton Copley; and Thomas Stone drawn by Longacre from a drawing by Robert Edge Pine.
The collection also includes print of Chase's residence in Baltimore County, Paca's residence in Queenstown, and Stone's residence in Port Tobacco.
History
Fine art prints and illustrations transferred from Maryland Commission on Artistic Property to MSA Special Collections. Photostats are available for Search Room access. Contact Department of Special Collections for access to the original engravings.
