Description
Glass plate negatives, photograph albums and prints, primarily of rural St. Mary's County relating to the Dorsey family. Subjects include: tobacco farming, Harpers Ferry, Washington, D. C., public buildings, Potomac River, Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, Georgetown University, blacks/African-Americans (men, women, and children), mills, churches, the Great Falls of the Potomac, Cumberland, 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Mount Vernon, Fairfax (VA), U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, old State Department, Christmas images, and scenes from President McKinley's Inaugural parade. Family farms were called Wales and Summerseat.
