History
In 1744 a portion of North Sassafras Parish was made a separate parish called Augustine Parish. It was composed of St. Augustine Chapel on Bohemia Manor (after referred to as the Manor Chapel) and the Church of the Good Shepherd in Chesapeake City.

The original St. Augustine was erected about 1696; a second chapel replace the first near the initial site in 1735. The latter building was in ruins by 1816. The present chapel was built in 1838, rededicated in 1926, and restored in 1964.

The Church of the Good Shepherd was completed in 1882 and became the parish church in 1887.

The early parish records have not survived.
