History
St. Joseph Church, completed in 1820, was originally built and served by the Jesuits of St. John the Evangelist Church in Fredercik. To meet the needs of the growing population in the area the Jesuits established the mission of St. Ignatius Loyola in Urbana and the mission of St. James in Point of Rocks in 1881. The earlier records of St. Joseph are held by St. John the Evangelist Church. Baptismal and death records 1895-1900 of St. James are with the records of St. Francis of Assisi in Brunswick.
