History
First known as St. Charles Borromeo, the parish of St. Gregory the Great was initially established in 1883 and served by an assistant priest from St. Peters. A temporary building was first erected for the congregation at the corner of Calhoun and Baker Streets, but a second church was begun in 1884 and at that time the parish was renamed for St. Gregory the Great. The original building used by St. Gregory's parishioners was later occupied by the parish of St. Peter Claver.
