The Evening Capital began publication with the May 12, 1884 issue and ceased February 9, 1910 [v. 52, no. 72]. It was published daily, except Sunday. Title history based on May 14, 1884 [v. 1, no. 3]. It was also published as the Daily Evening Capital and the Annapolis Evening Capital. The newspaper merged with the Maryland Gazette (Annapolis: 1874) to form the Evening Capital and Maryland Gazette (Annapolis: 1910).

Archives' collection includes issues for May 14, 1884 (MSA SC 1925-1-27), April 25, 1898 (MSA SC 1925-1-28), May 15, 1884 (MSA SC 1925-1-29), March 19, 1902 [v. 35, no. 107] (MSA SC 1516-4), November 8, 1905 (MSA SC 414), March 4, 1907 (MSA SC 414), and the historical and industrial edition, May 1908 (MSA SC 954).
