History
(Aberdeen, Harford County: Harford Printing and Pub. Co. 1921-1968; Harford Press Inc. 1969-1973; Harford Printing and Publishing Company 1973-1986) The Harford Democrat and Aberdeen Enterprise began publication January 7, 1921 [vol. 53, no. 20] and ceased June 4, 1986 [129th year, no. 23]. It was published weekly for Bel Air and Aberdeen. It was published as the Harford Democrat and the Enterprise, January 7, 1921, and as the The Harford Democrat & Aberdeen Enterprise, [May 4, 1930]-1947. The newspaper was formed by the union of the Harford Democrat (Bel Air: 1868) and the Aberdeen Enterprise (Aberdeen: 1889) and was absorbed by the Record (Susquehanna edition) (Havre de Grace: 1982). This project was made possible through funds provided by the Maryland State Archives and the United States Newspaper Program of the Library of Congress and the Office of Preservation, National Endowment for the Humanities.
