Description
Anna Ella Carroll papers, 1822, 1853-1898. Carroll (1815-1894) was influential in keeping Maryland in the Union during the Civil War. She claimed credit for planning the Union's Tennessee campaign. Collection includes correspondence, papers relating to Carroll's claim for planning the Tennessee campaign, copy of report to Assistant Secretary of War on trip to the west, and papers relating to John Minor Botts, Calhoun and seccession, Andrew Johnson and recollections of Lincoln.
