The Democrat and Carroll County Republican began publication in 1838 and ceased in March 1846[?]. It was published weekly. Title history based on August 9, 1838 [v. 1, no. 25]. Issue for [July 13, 1843] also called [v. 6, whole no. 280]. It was also published as the Democrat. The newspaper was continued by the Carroll County Democrat (Westminster: 1846).

Archives' collection includes issue for January 27, 1842.
