Microfilm copy of the Christian Abraham Fleetwood Papers in the Library of Congress: family correspondence 1837-1907; general correspondence 1860-1907; subject file 1829-1913; miscellany 1797-1939. Collection contains diaries, correspondence, and official papers relating to Fleetwood's service as a Union soldier during the Civil War, a copy of his Medal of Honor award in 1865; biographical materials, and photographs. The papers of his wife, Sara Irdell Fleetwood, include her diploma as a registered nurse, confirmation of her appointment to the Nurse' Examining Board of the District of Columbia, and a scrapbook of newspaper clippings relating to Afro-American history. |
The papers of Christian Abraham Fleetwood were given to the Library of Congress by his daughter, Miss Edith Fleetwood, in 1947-48. The status of the literary rights in the unpublished writing of Christian A. Fleetwood in these papers and in other collections of papers in the custody of the Library of Congress is unknown. |
