Potts Papers, MS. 13: letters on family and business matters, 1764-1829; deeds and other real estate papers, 1782-1843; wills, Richard Potts, Sr., 1808 and William Murdoch, 1825. Collection includes materials relating to Judge Richard Potts (1753-1808), a lawyer in Frederick, MD who served as a member of the Continental Congress and U.S. Senate, chief judge of the 5th judicial circuit of Maryland and as an associate justice of the Maryland Court of Appeals; William Potts (1742-1817), merchant in Barbados; Richard Potts, Jr. (1786-1865), a lawyer in Frederick, MD who also served as a state senator and railroad official; and William Murdock (1748-1825), a merchant in London, England.

Originals are owned by the Historical Society of Frederick County, Inc.
