Description
Brien Papers, MS. 15: letters and letterbook, 1809-1884; legal documents 1834-1865; and deeds. Collection includes materials of John Brien (d. 1834), ironmaster (Catoctin Furnace) and his sons John McPherson Brien (b. 1807) and Henry A. Brien (b. 1809), ironmasters and merchants; and grandson Luke Tiernan Brien (1827-1912), officer in the Confederate Army, railroad official in Illinois, and gentleman farmer of FR from 1883.

Originals are owned by the Historical Society of Frederick County, Inc.
