The Civilian & Telegraph began publication March 17, 1859 [v. 32, no. 1] and ceased December 23, 1875 [v. 48, no. 52]. It was published weekly. It was also published as the Civilian and Telegraph. The newspaper was formed by the union of the Cumberland Miners' Journal (Cumberland: 1851) and the Cumberland Telegraph and Maryland Mining Register (Cumberland: 1855) and was continued by the Civilian (Cumberland: 1876).
