The Cotton Plant began publication April 24, 1852 [v.1, no. 1] and ceased in 1857. It was published weekly. It was also published as the American Cotton Plant and the Cotton Plant and Southern Advertiser. "American" appears within the title ornament, January 8-[June 27], 1857. It was published simultaneously in Washington DC and Baltimore [1853]-1857.
