Description
Photographs compiled by William T. Claude, photographer for the Maryland State Roads Commission (c. 1926-late 1960s). Collection features views of State Roads exhibitions, trucks, snow plows and work scenes (such as roads being cleared of snow, etc). A number of photographs depict western Maryland views. Images of early road signs (c.1930) for Lisbon and West Elkridge are also included. Random views feature the wharf at Claiborne, the Crain Highway monument, and shots taken along the Frederick Pike (Route 40) and the Easton-Claiborne Road.
