Papers, account books, and other items relating to the Anthony family, Caroline and Talbot counties. Account books are for the most part personal records kept by Aaron Anthony (d. 1826) 1794-1826. Ledger "A" includes births of Aaron's children and slaves, one of which was Frederick Douglass (named Frederick Augustus, son of Harriet in the ledger). Collection includes Douglass' My Bondage and My Freedom with a frontispiece portrait of the author and marginal comments by Aaron Anthony's great granddaughter. Other items include deeds, surveys, and wills relating to land on the Tuckahoe 1664-1826; bills of the Anthony family, 1826-1864; and two letters from a nephew of Frederick Douglass to members of the Anthony family written in 1894.
