Description
This letter contains reactions following the attack on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941.

Some of the highlights of the letter include: George W. Nichols to his son Corporal Walter V. Nichols. The writer acknowledges that only the war is important (WWII). "All differences other things are now unimportant when compared with the war." To Nichols, "December 7, 1941 clarified our enemies.", "Once again, Germany has started a World War and Japan and Italy have allied with her.", "We must win this war; our country is unified now and ready to win.", "Every one whom I have talked with, is ready and willing to give thier fortune great or small, and their very lives to the cause of this war.", "The attack being so treacherous has served to unify the country.", "We are privileged to fight for our blessings in the country. We are all very proud of you being in the service." The writer goes on to discuss affairs at home. Asks various questions and closes the letter.

Walter V. Nichols, a former resident of Fork, Dorchester County, enlisted into the US Army on June 27, 1941.
