Electronic collection, duplicating the pension files of soldiers who served with the U.S. Colored Troops (USCT). Research collection drawn from the National Archives and Records Administration (Washington, D.C.) pension files from 1861-1934 on U.S. Colored Troops (USCT) veterans who served in the Civil War. The collection consists of Civil War and Later Pension Files from the Records of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Record Group 15. The electronic images within this collection contain death records, marriage records, medical reports, burial records, reimbursement applications, and affidavits from neighbors confirming their identity as a veteran.
