Description
Collection of personal correspondence, scrapbook, and books relating to career of Gertrude L. Poe, Editor, of The News Leader, Laurel, Maryland. Several items of correspondence of Governor Theodore R. McKeldin to Gertrude L. Poe, including a thank you letter from the Governor regarding recent publicity; an autographed 2.5 in. by 3.5 in. photographer of Governor McKeldin; and an autographed copy of Washington Bowed by Theodore R. McKeldin (Baltimore: Maryland Historical Society, 1956) , inscribed to Gertrude Poe.
Collection also includes invitation for Laurel Historical Society dinner (2006); Laurel, Maryland Centennial 1870-1970 Souvenir Historical Booklet (Laurel, MD: The News Leader, 1970); and four pages from a newsletter issue, "News and Notes from The Prince George's County Historical Society," Volume X, no. 12 (December 1982) with information regarding "General Washington in Annapolis" from historian R. Lee Van Horn's book, Out of the Past.
