Description
Two family Bibles (1760s and 1856) with family information for William Ray and John Blake Ray; with transcriptions from the Bibles and genealogical information of the Ray family of Talbot County, Maryland.
History
A gift to MSA from Griffith Ray and his family.
Transcriptions made by Barbara Ann Ray Bluestein in December 2009.
Family research finds that Alexander Ray, who was the original ancestor to immigrate from Ray family, sailed from Great Britain to Virginia, landing in October 26, 1652. He took a land grant in Talbot County, Maryland, 1664. Documentation of Ray family descendants through the twentieth century is included among the family records in the two Bibles.
