Description
418 tubes of architectural drawings relating the offices of Buckler and Fenhagen et al of Baltimore, Maryland. [SEE INVENTORY LIST] The collection encompasses the extant work of the well-respected Baltimore firm of Buckler & Finhagen (1915-47), Buckler Finhagen Meyer & Ayers (1948-52), Meyer & Ayers (1952-56), and Meyer Ayers & Saint (1957-70). Richard Winston Ayers, was the original "Ayers", a graduate of Yale, Rome Prize recipient, and Fellow in the American Institute of Architects. Ayers Saint Gross, the successor firm, continues to thrive with our headquarters in Baltimore at Tide Point and offices in Washington DC and Phoenix AZ.

The collection is varied. The firm then as now was prominent in the field of institutional and educational design for primary, secondary and university clients, which are well represented in the assemblage. The preponderance of the tubes cover projects in Maryland. The drawings represent many facets of design from schematics through working drawings, produced on inked linen, sketch trace, and vellum.
