Five family photographs of Rosalie Anderson Hilton, nee Clarke, and her family who lived in Annapolis. Images are family photographs taken in Annapolis during the early twentieth century, including portraits of the family, a portrait of Rosalie Anderson Hilton as a young woman, and a photograph of Rosalie's father, U.S. Naval Academy sailing instructor Marinus Anderson with Midshipmen and other Naval officers.
History
Rosalie Anderson Hilton (September 20, 1913 - November 30, 2002) was one of the first WAVES to report to active duty at the U.S. Naval Academy during World War II. Her father, Marinus Anderson (July 22, 1858 - May 24, 1932), served in first the Norwegian Navy, and later in the U.S. Navy as a naturalized citizen. He was a sailing instructor at the Naval Academy and is buried in the Naval Academy Cemetery.
This collection is the gift of Judi Hilton-Hyde in memory of her mother, Rosalie Clarke Anderson Hilton.
