Description
Short stories, poetry, and reminiscences relating to war and other subjects. Beadle was born and educated in Coventry, England. She survived the November 14, 1940 concentrated 11 hour bombing of Coventry by remaining with the backyard bomb shelter of her home.
History
Beadle served as a nurse with the British Royal Navy from August 1941 to April 1946 in Britain and overseas. During the Korean War she served as a Welfare Officer with the Red Cross in British Military Hospitals. Margaret came to the U.S. in 1959 and became a citizen in 1964. She married Professor Paul M. Beadle who taught Foreign Languages at the Naval Academy in Annapolis MD. Margaret was the Director of the Mental Health Association and later the Director of the RSVP Program In Anne Arundel Co. in Maryland. When she became a widow in 1983 Margaret ran a successful sheep farm in Garrett County MD. She also served on the Foster Care Review Board for several years.
