Description
Photograph mounted on board of Dr. Uthman Ray, Jr. being sworn in as a member of the Baltimore City Board of Recreation and Parks by Mayor Thomas J. D'Alesandro III. Accompanied by a letter from Mayor D'Alesandro dated January 30, 1970 presenting the photograph as a momento. Dr. Uthman Ray, Jr. was a prominent West Baltimore physician and Civil Rights activist. Mayor D'Alesandro first appointed Ray to serve on the Baltimore City Board of Recreation and Parks in 1968, and he was a board member until 1982. Ray also was a member of the Baltimore City Jail Board.
