Panoramic Photograph of Company I, A Rifle Unit in the 808th Pioneer Infantry, an African American unit who served in World War I. Previous owner of photograph was Corporal Frederick Pierce of Seabrook, Maryland, who served in the unit. Related Flags in Special Collections holdings: MSA SC 1560-1-53-1, the 808th U.S. Pioneer Infantry Regiment National Flag and MSA SC 1560-1-53-2, the 808th U.S. Pioneer Infantry Regiment Regimental Color.

Gift of the Friends of the Maryland State Archives and anonymous donors. The 808th Pioneer Infantry photograph was purchased from William Reece Company, New Haven, CT.
