Description
Orphaline Society Board: minutes 1819-1857. Baltimore Orphan Asylum Board: minutes 1881-1931, monthly reports 1893-1917, annual reports 1860-1930, acts of incorporation, bylaws, and rules 1917, 1928; admissions books 1820-1930. Home of the Friendless of Baltimore City: annual reports 1854-1928; registers 1854-1930; miscellaneous 1854-1930. Children's Home of Baltimore, Inc.: minutes and reports 1931-1943.

This collection was donated by the Woodbourne Center, which as of 1965, became the successor agency to the Female Humane Association Charity School, the Orphaline Charity School, the Home of the Friendless, and the Baltimore Orphan Asylum. For more information see the Woodbourne Center website.

History
The Orphaline Society was incorporated 1807 and its name was changed first in 1826 to Baltimore Female Orphan Asylum, and second in 1849 to Baltimore Orphan Asylum. The Home of the Friendless of Baltimore City was founded in 1854 and was also know as Home for Friendless Vagrant Girls and House of Industry. In 1931, it merged with the Baltimore Orphan Asylum to form Children's Home of Baltimore, Inc.
