Letter, Captain E.G. Beckwith, to Lt. Col. Dennis regarding two checks originally enclosed as payment for rations. September 5, 1861. MS 35.4-36-1 Letter, J.D. Bennett, acknowledging receipt of $50 for recruitment for the MD Home Brigade. September 11, 1861. MS 35.4-36-2 Letter, D. Blocher, Baltimore, discussing the formation of a regiment of the Potomac Home Brigade and its officers. Blocher relates that Col. Spates had an interview with Gov. Thomas and with Gen. Scott [S.M.] Blair among other gossip September 24, 1861. MS 35.4-36-3 Letter, James C. Clarke, Supt. (1824-1902), Baltimore, in reply to a request from Col. G.R. Dennis for troop transportation. He also confirms he transported troops for [Mr. Lazd] who D. Blocher represented as a recruiting officer September 24, 1861. MS 35.4-36-4 Letter, J.B. Coloney, Lt., Muddy Branch Camp, requesting Col. Dennis to detain William G. Storck who is presumed a deserter after his disappearance on October 17, during a march from Williamsport to Darnestown. October 28, 1861. MS 35.4-36-5 Letter, Jeremiah C. Cramer, Harmony Grove, MD, complaining that the army is taking all his wood and he is losing money expected from from its sale. He requests reimbursement. November 2, 1861. MS 35.4-36-6 Letter, J.W. Henry, Westminster, MD, saying that Charles W. [Aursler] is too ill for duty. November 8, 1861. MS 35.4-36-7 Letter, S.B. Holabird, Frederick, MD, asking Col. Dennis to arrest and confine mutinous teamsters until they cooperate. November 5, 1861. MS 35.4-36-8 Letter, Francis S. Jones, Libertytown, MD, requesting aid for a Mr. Willson whose son has enlisted underage. Mr. Willson wishes to retrieve the boy. October Letter, William [N.] Martin, Uniontown, MD, with notification that Alfred Shriner is unable to perform his duty because of subacute rheumatism and Dr. Martin therefore requests a furlough extension. November 15, 1861. MS 35.4-36-10 Letter, William [N.] Martin, Uniontown, MD, requesting the extension of Alfred Shriner's furlough for 8-10 days due to continued rheumatism. November 8, 1861. Letter, W.G. Maxwell, Baltimore, MD, quoting prices for cap covers of $7.50 per dozen or 75 cents each for vulcanized rubber. Glazed muslin would be cheaper. October 7, 1861. MS 35.4-36-11 Letter, Francis Thomas, Gov. (1799-1876), expressing satisfaction at the appointment of Edward Cresap Ord as Brigadier General of the Potomac Home Brigade and warns Col. Dennis to guard a shipment of 1000 guns. September 16, 1861. MS 35.4-36-12 Letter, J.J. Weaver, Uniontown, MD, informing Col. Dennis that David [Bloom] has pneumonia and requests a furlough for him for 10 days to two weeks. November 8, 1861. MS 35.4-36-13
