Description

Oversized copy photograph, black and white, of the U.S.S. Maryland (BB-46) during World War II service. Caption: "Ship Coming into Pearl [Harbor] From Siapan After Being Torpedoed in Bow." The Battle of Siapan was launched by the United States against the Empire of Japan during the Pacific campaign of World War II between 15 June and 9 July 1944. Siapan is an Island that is part of the the Mariana Islands archipelago, located in Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

A newsclipping about the BB-46 crew's reunion in New Orleans is attached, "USS Maryland Mates Dock" with a handwritten inscription: "To our President Ed Davis. Compliment of Bill Haligas, 4th Div., U.S.S. Maryland."
