Records concerning Arthur Raphael Middleton, businessman and inventor, whose company, The White and Middleton Gas Engine Company, developed and built the engine used by Simon Lake to power the Argonaut, an early submarine, in 1897. Collection includes a biographical sketch, letters, photographs, newspaper articles, brochures, technical manuals, memorandums, and patents concerning Middleton, Lake and the Argonaut.
