- March 12, 1782: Letter from Samuel to Richard Henry Lee concerning a claim that Samuel and Robert had on land west of the Allegheny Mountains that conflicted with a similar claim by the state of Virginia. (3 pages)
- December 26, 1782: Letter from Samuel and Robert to Mr. Will Caar mentioning the arrival of two vessels from L'Orient carrying dry goods, the expectation of vessels to arrive from New England for which tobacco will be needed, and the expectation of the arrival of vessels from Nantes. (1 page)
- October 8, 1783: Letter (unsigned) to Robert Gilmore concerning the desire to send his son Johnny to Europe to be educated in business, the Kentucky settlements, the purchase of land by the Purviances in the Ohio River valley, etc. (6 pages)
- October 30, 1783: Letter from Samuel and Robert to Robert Morris requesting Morris' help in finding Europeans interested in purchasing land and property in the Ohio River valley from the Purviances. (4 pages)
- October 31, 1783: Letter from Samuel to John Cox concerning a proposal to sell land owned by the Purviances in the Ohio River valley in order to raise money to restore money that was lost when American trade was curtailed during the Revolutionary War, and the desire for Cox to express his opinion on whether Samuel should send a power of attorney to Johnny Purviance in London in order to seek a better price for the sale of the aforesaid land than could be had in America. (3 pages)
- November 14, 1783: Letter from Samuel to Michael Hillegas requesting Hillegas' advice and assistance in carrying out the plan to sell some of the Purviance holdings in the Ohio River valley since Hillegas had many European acquaintances and connections. (5 pages)
- November 14, 1783: Letter from Samuel to John Cox and Robert Hooper outlining the proposal for Cox and Hooper to sell 31,000 acres on Hughes' Creek and 42,000 acres on Elk River for the Purviances. (2 pages)
- November 15, 1783: Letter from Samuel and Robert to Dorsey Pentecost authorizing Pentecost to sell 12,000 acres near Fort Pitt for the Purviances. (3 pages + 1 page listing of the lands to be sold)

- November 20, 1783: Letter from Samuel and Robert to John Henry Purviance mentioning that the current state of Purviance finances prevented them from helping to pay off the accounts of John Henry Purviance, Mr. Nesbitt, or Mr. Neilson; also, the younger Purviance is informed that the abovementioned power of attorney would be sent to him. - November 22, 1783: Letter (unsigned) to Messrs. Joshua Johnson, Samuel Curson, and John Henry Purviance transmitting the power of attorney and a copy of the deed to the abovementioned land on the Green River; describes how the land came to be bought by the Purviances; describes the location and quality of the land.
