Description
Stops in Maryland during the suffrage hike from New York to Washington, D.C. in February 1913.

The suffrage hike set out from New York City on February 12, 1913, with the actual hike starting in Newark, New Jersey. The hikers arrived in Washington, D.C., on February 28th, after spending the night before in Hyattsville. Fourteen hikers traveled the entire way, and were joined by other groups en route. This was the second such hike, the first taking place in December 1912, from New York City to Albany. The two main leaders were "General" Rosalie Gardiner Jones and "Colonel" Ida Craft. The group became known as the Army of the Hudson.

Stops in Maryland included:
Havre de Grace
Bel Air
Overlea
Baltimore
Laurel/Elkridge
Bladensburg

The Baltimore base was the Emerson Hotel.
