Description
Sheriff's tax collection ledger for St. Paul's and Queen Anne's Parishes, Prince George's County. Loose papers contained in the volume are inventoried separately. A subsequent companion volume remained in the Prince George's County Court House until transferred to the Maryland State Archives in 1940. This volume migrated into private custody sometime prior to 1891, when it was noted in a newspaper account to be in the possession of John Zug who claimed he had purchased it at the sale of the Library of Dr. Richard Bowie Tyler and that it previously had been claimed by Dr. Grafton Tyler. Subsequent to John Zug the volume was acquired by The University Archives, Westport CT, ex Guthman Americana Collection. University Archives gifted it to the Maryland State Archives, returning it to public custody.
