8/21/00: Assigned special collection number for project.

8/31/00: Investigated possibilities for locking down access to collection materials. Started setting up email functions for webmaster.

9/1/00: Moved Potomac related files from ECP's workstation to msafour. Reported on website design to date. Basic foundation in place to view existing records. Need to create interface to update records.

9/5/00: Continued work on interface to add/update/review records.

9/14/00: Collection-wide search of notes using Verity is in place. Working of on collection-wide search of database.

9/21/00: Worked on correcting problems with Verity indexing. Moved "add" button to top of page. Added ability to find single record by item number. Worked on multiple file upload.

9/22/00: Identified path to main page for Dan to set up server. Continued work on multiple file upload.

9/26/00: Created website administrator's page to access functions for indexing website, adding new users, adding new series, etc.

9/27/00: Fixed edit function of website. Backed up Potomac data. Reindexed site. Tested series modifications.

9/28/00: Sat in on meeting with lawyers as they worked with website to troubleshoot problems and answer questions. Worked with Wei to correct problems resolving mdag.net to Potomac website. Dan reports that mdag.net is IP restricted to prevent other agencies behind the firewall from accessing the site. Proxies must be set correctly to access the site internally.

9/29/00: Met with Ed, Chris, Wei, Dan, and Kalle to review the status of the connection for mdag.net, discussed problems of setting up email to webmaster from website, and RAS server.

10/09/00: Investigated problem with email messages not getting to ECP's mailbox.

10/10/00: Lengthened time out period in security system. Began work on problems of indexing notes, email, and directory scan of notes directories.

10/11/00: Worked on password protection of site.

10/16/00: Corrected problem with returning series number to series content page.

10/17/00: Worked on problems with Canon WebRecord Pro for budget and proposal for mdag.net

10/28/00: Increased limit to 25MB to call files from CD.

11/13/00: Began setting up testing environment for transfer of data from msafour to msasix.

11/14/00: Spent time researching new security coding for website. Increased the application time to 60 minutes, Investigated switchover of database systems from Microsoft Access97 to Microsoft SQLServer 7 with Mai. Changed the search results to the new paginated naviation style using a Cold Fusion custom tag, removing the previous and next buttons at the bottom of the pages. Added SQL insert coding add the update date and time in the field "revised_date" when someone makes a change to an entry. Created search engine to search by date created/date revised. Helped Dan set up ColdFusion on msasix.

11/15/00: Began data transfer from msafour to msasix.

11/16/00: Continued testing msasix environment. Set up ODBC connections for databases. Found the SQL command syntax for SQLServer7 is not the same as in Access97. Made minor corrections to SQL commands throughout ColdFusion programming. Checked the structure of all the tables and modified as necessary (mainly making the structures consistent and adding default values, autonumbers, primary keys, etc. that did not transfer from Access97).

11/20/00: Investigated problem with ODBC connection and Access97.

11/21/00: Transfer to msasix of programming ca. 90% complete. Continued making corrections to SQL commands. Passed information to Wei documenting Access97/ODBC problems.

11/30/00: Discussed with ECP problems with California user not being able to access site.

12/4/00: Worked with Dave on problems logging into the system.

12/8/00: Had film duplicated to be sent to Sande DeSalles as ILL request.

12/10/00: Worked on problems with Verity indexing.

12/13/00: Set up scheduler on msasix so that website is automatically reindexed each day.

12/14/00: Deleted the extraneous data files (from our original testing workspaces) so that only files relating to the new version of mdag.net remain on msasix.

1/5/01: Modified programming to show and access subdirectories under restricted and unrestricted directories. Continued problems with Verity search.

1/8/01: Continue program modifications from Jan. 5th.

1/13/01: Found custom tag to clean up criteria passed to verity search. Corrected problems with verity search. Called ECP with results.

1/18/01: Received inquiry from Mike Miller, State Law Library, concerning website. Passed inquiry to ECP.

1/23/01: Investigated glitch in issuing passwords.

1/25/01: Added ability to sort series results by date and accession number. Unable to sort by description because field is a memo field.

1/29/00: Debated apples and oranges with ECP. Issue not yet resolved.

9/5-11/01: Created static copy of site reflecting information ca. Feb. 6, 2001 and CDs for lawyers. Made a duplicate copy of cfm files and database on msatwo. Wei copied May backup tape to msatwo/megafile. Deleted all records in copy of database that were created after Feb. 6. Sent copy to ECP for review. Deleted all image file directories on msatwo that did not have a corresponding database record. Changed session variables to "y" to allow full access to site and defaulted username and password session variables to a valid username/password sequence. Removed all references to HTTP_referer variable since it created errors when running HTTrack. Per ECP, removed all series that were denied to Hoffman, Brainerd, and Jeske. Created static site with HTTrack with following settings:
