Scrapbook, thirty pages, documenting Public Health Nursing in Maryland, compiled by the Division of Public Health Nursing, Maryland State Department of Health. Begins with a typed chronological history of public nursing from 1887 to 1953, followed by black and white photgraphs,(copies and originals) including one page of color photographs.

Notable images: Two African American children in their home being treated for tuberculosis, c. 1910, classroom of African American children drinking milk during an "early school health program" sponsored by the Baltimore City Health Department, African American school children posing for "Negro Health Week", large photograph of a premature infant in a specialized carrier being transferred to the hospital by a public health care nurse, photographs of several original County Health clinics, (Anne Arundel Co., Baltimore Co., Garrett Co.,and Kent Co.)

Mary E. Lent, First Superintendent of the Instructive Visiting Nurse Association (1901-1916), Ellen N. Lamotte, First Director of the Bureau of Nursing - Baltimore City Health Department (1909-1912) and Dr. J. H. Mason Knox, Jr., Chief of the Bureau of Child Hygiene - Maryland State Department of Health (1922-1942) are photographed in the collection.

Nursing history includes urban and rural care for tuberculosis, prenatal care, infant care, visiting nurses, nursing services to industry, early health mobile and educational programs.
