Handwritten notation on page reads: "This James died in 1843, so he can't be the one who wrote to Ted in the 1860's." An arrow points to James Coleman Corner (James' father) and this is written beside the arrow: "Neither can the father have written them."

To Ted from Ja Corner & Sons [Baltimore] that asks that he sell the Maria, after ridding himself of the cargo and painting it to suit the fancy of the people living on the coastline of South America, specifically near Callas. If he was not present, Captain Johnson was to be given instruction on selling the boat and cargo. The letter also suggests that Ted write to Captain Wedge.

The Grunning account is apparently settled; refers to the sale of the Maria, saying that if sale is impossible it should be loaded with itrate of soda, Brazil or Lima wood and ores. Reports on the location of various others - Mobile (Thomas), La Plata (Wedge is not quite there but is expected).
