Description
Scrapbook put together by Frederick C. Gloeckner, Raymond Zimmerman's Grandfather, about World War I. Cover of scrapbook reads" Mitchell's Catalog." Includes illustrations of US military forces, political cartoons, and newspaper clippings. Clippings and cartoons on the subjects of: the draft, German prisoners of war, Liberty Bonds, prohibition, censorship, women, German atrocities, Soviet Russia, 1918 Flu Epidemic, the Armistice and more.
Also includes miscellaneous ephemera: a newspaper clipping about the students of West Philadelphia High School studying agriculture with a photo of Frederick C. Gloeckner, photographs of two young men, an invitation to the Class Day Exercises of the William Cullen Bryant School in 1916, and a ribbon.
Two items are not glued into the scrapbook. One is an envelope with a return stamp to C. R. Gloeckner. It contains a photograph of two men. The other is a map of the postal zones around Philadelphia.
