Business card of L. W. Counselman & Company's Oysters with the motto "L. W. Counselman & Co.'s Oysters Have Taken a Hold on the Public Baltimore" with charicatures of a African American oysterman and Uncle Sam in a top hat, both holding up oysters with a schooner in the background.
A hole is punched in the center of the card, likely indicating that the transit of the oyster bushels described on the reverse side of the card had been completed. Tallies of 465 bushels of oysters with transportation costs aboard the Schooner Jno. Clark, totaling $125.55 is hand-written on the reverse in iron gal ink. Transaction in Baltimore is dated March 26th 1880.
