Correspondence in this file is primarily from Maggie S. Wilson, Superintendent of Teacher and Elementary Training as well as a Field Worker for the Maryland Sunday School Association. Most of the correspondence is a statement of appreciation for all the work being done in Miss Handy’s district. In some letters Miss Wilson was providing examinations, copies of Outlook, the State newspaper, transmitting graded papers, providing recommendation and congratulations, making arrangements for visits and keeping Miss Handy update with program standards. Occasionally, she asked Miss Handy to write articles or give presentations at the State Conventions. In one letter Miss Wilson sent Miss Handy a list of teachers and classes for that district. In addition to Miss Handy, other teachers mentioned in the letters include Mrs. Elizabeth Dryden, Mrs. G.P. Hearthway, Professor Hill, Miss Martha Birch, Ella G. Henderson, Mr. Hurst, Mr. Gibson, Miss Purnell, and Miss Massey. Other people mentioned in the letters include Mrs. W.O. Hurst, Rev. W.W. Kreger, Mr. G.P. Hearthwen, and Mr. Shockley occasionally. There are two letters in the file from L. Atwood Bennett about trip arrangements. |
