Description
Letters, Upton Scott to Margaret Birnie, his sister, in Ireland. [1769, fr Annapolis]Scott sends her funds for support and [1777 fr Ireland] arranges for the education of her sons. [1780] Nephew Frank is captured by the Spanish. Scott reassures Margaret that there may be an exchange of captives.[1780] Scott has arranged a postion in the East India Service for Frank and he is to be 5th mate aboard the "Godfrey". Scott is in London concerned about plans to return to America, but hopes to spend time in Ireland first. [1790 fr Annapolis] Scott has learned of the death of a sister in Ireland. [1796] Scott encourages Margaret to move fr Belfast to her son's so he can care for her in her old age and sends her 10 guineas "to make your day more pleasant". Scott's own health is impaired by gout. He is concerned about "the situation" in Ireland.
