West ITEMS: record 1 October 1828; deposition of John Bird 3 November 1828; article of agreement 17 April 1829 COMMENTS: Court record, including copy of original petition, involving the contested will of slave master Stephen West who according to one version emancipated a number of slaves and others, including his two servants Polly and Charlotte "whom I heretofore liberated;" 62 1/2 acres of land; agreement sought "deeds of manumission" SOURCE: MSA C1187-27, 28, and 30
