Description
Lot #48 of My Lady's Manor originally was a part of the tract of land of William and Josiah Slade who were living on it by 1742. Plat survey of Lot #48 was prepared 10 Nov. 1784. Through Josiah's daughter, Belinda Slade, who married Thomas Talbott Sr., the lot came partly by inheritance to Belinda Talbott Hutchins, wife of Joshua Hutchins. He purchased the remainder of Lot #48 from the other Talbott heirs.

the site for St. James Church was acquired from the Slades about 1750 from lot #48. In 1837 Joshua Hutchins sold part and gave part of the several acres from Lot #48 on the south side of Monkton Road for the building of St. James Rectory. H. Gwynn Cockey sold the remaining part of Lot 48 located on the north side of Monkton Road to St. James Church
