Maryland. Includes newspaper clippings relating to 1572 papal medal found on Assateague Island; history of Maryland 1632-1649 compiled by donor; biographical information on the Lords Baltimore; typescript from the Raleigh Register, 29 May 1830 reprinting account from "an old British magazine" concerning a dual between the Duke of Brunswick and Lord Baltimore; newspaper clipping from the Sun (Baltimore) 21 December 1977 concerning erosion of St. Clements Island; newspaper clipping, Sun (Baltimore) 20 May 1989 concerning the National Pike; newspaper clipping from Evening Star (Washington, DC) 2 December 1965 concerning location of grave of Charles Dickinson (killed by Andrew Jackson in a dual); newspaper and magazine clippings relating to Kiplin Hall (home of George Calvert); The Connecticut Antiquarian December 1970 and June 1971 containing excerpts from diary of Joshua Hempsted II relating to his journey to Maryland in 1749; notes and copies of materials relating to the Battle of Horn Point, Pennsylvania-German settlement of Maryland, including settlement of Augustine Herman; notes on Glorious Revolution, removal of capital to Annapolis, tobacco inspection act, the Sarah Woodcock affair, Constitutional Convention August 1776, Maryland! My Maryland! and James Ryder Randall, counties erected by the legislature.
