Description
19th century legislation concerning court stenographers:

1864 Laws of Maryland Ch. 280
"AN ACT to add a new section to Article four of the Code of Public Local Laws authorizing the Judge of the Superior Court to employ a Stenographer."

1867 Laws of Maryland Ch. 373
"AN ACT entitled an Act to repeal an act entitled 'An act to add a new section to article four of the Code of Public Local Laws, authorizing the Judge of the Superior Court to employ a Stenographer passed on the seventeenth of March, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, chapter two hundred and eighty, to re-enact the same with amendments, and to insert additional provisions for the appointment of Stenographers for the Court of Common Pleas and the Orphan's Court of the City of Baltimore.'"
