Description
From: "Edward C. Papenfuse" Subject: Lincoln's Walk X-RCPT-TO: The accounts of Lincoln's Walk that we have seen to date are from two sources, the New York Herald and the New York Times (I supplied Dick Israel with a copy of the latter). The New York Herald account is a transcript on a subscription only web site where there is no image of the original paper. No one, as far as I know, has seen the original account in the Herald except the transcriber. The NY Times account is a summary of a report that first appeared in the Washington Star and it is possible that the Herald account is based upon the Star as well. Those interested in the account of the walk would do well to find the original account in the Star and test its reliability.
