J. Millard Tawes Bio Page Died 25 June 1979; funeral 27 June at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Chrisfield. Buried at Sunnyridge Memorial Park. "Ex-Gov. Tawes Dies." The Evening Capital (Annapolis), 25 June 1979. Gov. Hughes ordered flags flown at half-mast. Funeral attended by numerous officials from all branches of government, including Gov. Hughes, Blair Lee III, Marvin Mandel, Senators Matthias and Sarbanes. Board of Public Works meeting canceled so that Goldstein and James could attend.
