William Preston Lane, Jr. Bio Page Died 7 February 1967, funeral 12 February. Service at St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown; burial at Rosehill Cemetery. Honor guard of State Troopers, WWI veterns. Long funeral procession. House of Delegates and Senate adjourned in honor of his death and Senate passed resolution honoring him. Letter of sympathy from Gov. Agnew to Mrs. Lane. Funeral attended by Gov. Agnew, McKeldin, Rep. Mathias, Louie Goldstein, two Court of Appeals judges, and a number of legislators from Western Maryland. "Ex-Governor Lane Dies of Heart Attack." The Sun, 8 February 1967.
