Letter from Patty Hewes of Boston, dated 11 November 1789, to her brother Samuel Hewes of St. Inigoes in St. Mary's County, in which she writes about seeing the "illustrious Washington." "I have seen the illustrious Washington! At the sight of "Columbia's favorite Son" Your Patty's Heart felt the enthusiastic glow that animates the Patriots breast."
