Description
Video interview conducted by Corey Lewis on January 25, 2025 with Dr. Aitza Haddad Núñez at the Maryland State Archives. This oral history was captured as part of The Latino History Project. Dr. Aitza Haddad Núñez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. In 2007, she earned her BA in Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez followed by a JD from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico Law School in 2010. In 2012, she moved to Maryland to pursue a PhD in Communication, Culture, and Media Studies at Howard University and completed it in 2016. Dr. Núñez has been teaching since 2013 and she continues to do so locally in Maryland and as an adjunct professor at universities across the United States. Dr. Núñez founded the Maryland Commission on Hispanic Affairs and previously was a Commissioner on the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs. She also serves as the director of Friendly Law, a nonprofit that empowers individuals through legal education and advocacy. Duration: 39:12

Description
Video interview conducted by Andrew Forschler on January 25, 2025 with Christina Delgado at the Maryland State Archives. This oral history was captured as part of The Latino History Project. Christina Delgado is originally from New York City. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After living in Washington D.C. for a short time, Delgado moved to Baltimore. She then studied at the Community College of Baltimore County where she received her Associate of Arts in Photography. Delgado has served as an artist, educator, and culture worker. She furthered her education at Notre Dame of Maryland University and earned her Master of Arts in Leadership in Teaching. Delgado is the Founder and Creative Director of Tola’s Room, a Puerto Rican home museum which was previously the home where she lived with her daughter, Omotola. Beyond its collection of Puerto Rican and Nuyorican culture, the establishment provides services for the community including cooking demos, creative workshops, and other events. Duration: 30:27
