The American Whig began publication April 29, 1843 [v. 1, no. 1] and ceased December 31, 1844 [v. 2, no. 29]. It was published weekly as a Whig presidential campaign paper. Other editions include the American Whig (Baltimore: 1844). Issue for December 31, 1844 is additional number giving election results.
