History
(Washington City : William Ogden Niles, Sept. 1837-Oct. 1839; J. Hughes, Oct. 1839-Feb. 1848; G. Beatty, July 1848-Sept. 1849)

Niles' National Register began publication Sep. 2, 1837 [vol. 52, no. 1] and ceased Sep. 28, 1849 [vol. 76, no. 13]. it was published weekly. It was published in Baltimore, 1839-1848; Philadelphia, 1848-1849. Issues for Sept. 2, 1837-Sept. 28, 1849 called also: Whole no. 1, 353-whole no. 1,965. Vols. 53-72 called also: 5th ser., v. 3-23. Publication was suspended Mar.-June 1848, July-Aug. 1849. The serial continues Niles' Weekly Register and was continued in part by American Register and International Journal.
